Mother's Day 2013

My first Mother's Day was a good one. Shelby and I went to church then visited Brad at work.

Brad and Shelby got me a James Avery ring with a topaz, Shelby's birthstone. It is engraved with her initials SMG. I plan on giving it to her when she is a responsible young lady. This is a picture from the James Avery website (you won't see the engraving here).
I am very blessed!

First airplane ride & last visit to Lompoc, California (February 2013)

Well, Shelby's Great Grandmother Williams passed away on January 31, 2013. We flew to California for the funeral.

She did great on the flights to and from California. She ended up sleeping the majority of both flights.

I think Grandmother would have loved what Shelby wore to her funeral. She looked too cute!

Growing up we would always visit family in Lompoc and when we were there we would always go to a little Danish town called Solvang. While in Solvang, it is a family tradition to take a picture in the wooden shoe that is outside a shoe store. We also take pictures in front of the Solvang windmill. Well, I couldn't let Shelby miss those experiences.

My granddaddy is buried in Morro Bay, CA. So we drove there to bury my grandmother's ashes with him. When in Morro Bay we always see the Morro Bay rock and feed the seal lions. Once again, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't let Shelby do those things too?!

While in California Shelby got to meet Uncle Paul and cousin Alison. They just loved her. Uncle Paul loved rocking her in the mornings before everyone was awake.

Every time we would visit Lompoc we always took pictures outside Grandmother's house.

I almost forgot to mention the wonderful visit we had with Shelby's Great Aunt Lee (my mom's aunt) in New Braunfels, before we left for California. It was so great to see her again. I think the last time I saw her I was in high school? She just loves Shelby to pieces.

One month old!

Our baby girl is one month old already!

Here are some things that have happened in the past month:

1. She lost her umbilical cord the day after Christmas.
2. She can toot and poop very loudly. Makes her daddy proud.
3. By week 3 we had breast feeding down. YAY!
4. By four weeks we are starting to grin/smile on our own without gas.
5. By one month we are learning to not wake up as much during the night.

She has already been on two road trips.
1. Drove to NB during Christmas we stopped in to visit Grammy, Grandpa and family.
2. Stayed the weekend in Boerne at Granny & Gramps.
3. Drove to San Antonio to eat Christmas dinner and Cousin Brett's house.
4. Drove to NB again two weeks later to visit Grammy, Grandpa & family.

Shelby is just a joy to be around. Brad & I love watching her grow. Some of our favorite things are giving her a bath, watching her facial expressions when she's awaking, catching her smiling at us and watching her sleep.
